Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about Rainy Refunds weather protection.
Rainy Refunds are simple rain protection solutions for outdoor events. If you have an active Rainy Refund, you will get some or all of your money back if the forecasted rainfall meets the agreed conditions.
You can purchase a Rainy Refund when you buy your ticket or direct from our shop. You can decide how much of your ticket price to cover, usually between 10% and 100%. We look at the forecasted rainfall for a specific time window on the day of your event. At the agreed check time, we compare that forecast to the rainfall level set for your event and let you know if a refund is due. If the conditions are met, we send your refund automatically. You do not need to send in screenshots, photos or receipts.
At the moment, eligible events appear in the Rainy Refunds shop. Each event also has a time limit for adding Rainy Refunds. There is a lockout period before the event (typically 15 days) after which you can no longer buy Rainy Refunds.
You can select an eligible event in the Rainy Refunds shop and choose your cover amount, or you can add Rainy Refunds as an optional extra when buying tickets on the organiser's site.
Yes, in some cases. If your event is listed in the Rainy Refunds shop, it is more than 15 days before the event start date, and you can verify that you have already bought a ticket for that event, you can purchase a Rainy Refund for the event.
If you buy directly from the Rainy Refunds shop, you will be asked to upload a copy of your ticket or ticket receipt after purchase so we can verify that you have a valid ticket. If we can verify your ticket, we confirm by email and your cover stays in place. If we cannot verify it, we will let you know and refund what you paid for Rainy Refunds.
No. You go to your event as normal. There is nothing you need to do during the event for your Rainy Refunds cover. What matters is the forecasted rainfall during the agreed measurement window for your event, not the full day.
At the agreed forecast check time, we look at the forecasted rainfall for your event's measurement window and compare it with the rainfall threshold in your terms. If the forecasted rainfall meets or exceeds that level, you become eligible for a refund. If it does not, no refund is due.
Around the forecast check time, we send you an email explaining whether the conditions have been met. If a refund is due, we process it automatically and email you with how much you will receive and how and when it will be paid. If no refund is due, we explain that the forecast did not reach the required level.
We must use the agreed forecast data for your event, not personal observations. It can feel very wet where you are standing even if the forecasted rainfall for the agreed time window stays below the threshold. If the forecast is below that level, no refund is due, even if your experience was different.
You can usually check your cover by logging into your Rainy Refunds account and looking at your list of upcoming events and active Rainy Refunds. If anything looks unclear, contact support and share your booking reference.
You do not need an account to hold cover, but having one makes things easier. With an account, you can see your upcoming events and active Rainy Refunds, check key details about your cover and keep your contact details up to date. You can create an account using the link in your confirmation email, and in some cases you can import an existing Rainy Refund into your account using a token from that email.
If the whole event is cancelled, your main ticket or booking terms apply first. In addition, we will normally refund what you paid for Rainy Refunds for that event. Your confirmation or event-specific terms may include extra detail, so please check those first.
If your event is moved to a new date or time, we will usually refund what you paid for Rainy Refunds for that event. At this stage, you cannot move your Rainy Refunds cover to a different date or event.
No. Rainy Refunds cover is linked to the original booking and cannot currently be transferred to another person or event. If you are thinking about changing or cancelling your ticket, check your main ticket terms and then contact support so we can explain what this means for your cover.
Rainy Refunds is based on the agreed event window, not on your personal arrival or departure time. If you miss part or all of the event, the cover terms do not normally change.
